Who sends representatives to Intergroup?

Every registered DA meeting in the Northern California area is entitled to send a representative to Intergroup. (Sacramento area meetings should send representatives to the Sacramento intergroup.) If you aren't sure whether or where your group is registered, check with the World Service Office.

What do Intergroup Representatives do?

Intergroup Representatives attend the monthly NCDA business meeting and report on Intergroup activities to their groups. As an Intergroup Representative, your job is to make the wants and needs of your home group known to Intergroup.

While anyone may attend an NCDA Intergroup meeting, only representatives duly elected by member groups may vote. No individual can act as a voting member of more than one group.

Most current Intergroup Representatives also hold one or more service positions and help to organize NCDA's two annual events, Winter Lights and Do DA Day.

What are the requirements for becoming an Intergroup Representative?

Requirements for becoming an intergroup representative may vary from meeting to meeting. NCDA suggests that representatives have at least 3 months' abstinence from incurring new unsecured debt and have had at least one Pressure Relief Meeting, as those are the minimum requirements for many of the service positions.

How do I become an Intergroup Representative?

Intergroup Representative is a meeting-level service position. That means your home group has to elect you. Nominate yourself at the next business meeting.

As an Intergroup Representative, you are providing a service to your meeting. Therefore your meeting is responsible for covering your expenses, such as transportation to and from the monthly business meeting.

NCDA Intergroup meets from 10:15 AM to 12:45 PM on the 4th Saturday of every month at the San Francisco Public Library.
