Intergroup-Sponsored Events

NCDA Intergroup produces two large events each year for all DA members. Do DA Day takes place in
September and Winter Lights takes place in February.

Each event costs about $2000 and requires help from many people to put on. They are meant to be produced by the membership of DA for the membership of DA. You can help make these events a success by volunteering.

Help with publicity is also welcome. Do you have contacts at a local newspaper or radio station?

Details about our events, including flyers and directions, are made available on this website as soon as they have been approved at NCDA Intergroup meetings.

Do DA Day

As the name suggests, the focus of Do DA Day is on the tools of the program: on how you do DA. Intended to give newcomers a total immersion experience, Do DA Day features Pressure Relief Meetings and Recordkeeping sessions as well as workshops, treasure maps, and keynote speakers. Each year the speakers focus on a particular theme.

Questions about Do DA Day?

Winter Lights

Winter Lights is NCDA's annual February event, best known for the Circle of Lights Meditation and Candle Lighting Ceremony. Just as Do DA Day focuses on the practical aspects of the program, Winter Lights centers around the spiritual. Come renew your connection to your Higher Power.

Event Days & Locations

Have trouble getting to NCDA events? Don't want to have to deal with that bridge? We'd love to hear your suggestions for alternate locations. Ideally, we'd like to have one of the annual events in the East Bay or Marin, and one in San Francisco.

We hold one event on a Saturday and one on a Sunday in order to be an equal-opportunity offender when it comes to conflict with religious services.

Who's in charge of NCDA events?

One Intergroup representative acts as Event Coordinator for a specified term. Individual events are organized by a committee of 3-4 people, with volunteer coordinators handling different aspects such as facilities, literature, refreshments, and decorations.

Volunteers of all kinds are needed for all of our events. Help set up, clean up, sell literature, collect donations, contribute materials, or lead a workshop. (Please read the Speaker Requirements for NCDA Events before volunteering to lead a workshop or be a keynote speaker.)
