Serving DA in Northern California

Is this a selfish program?

You've heard it before: "You have to give it away to keep it." The real reason we do service is to stay abstinent/solvent ourselves. The program won't survive without us, and we won't survive without the program. Doing service at any level is also the fastest way to feel like you belong.

NCDA Service Bodies

Northern California has both an Intergroup and an area group of General Service Representatives (GSRs). This website is run by NCDA Intergroup as part of its service to the local DA community. Because there is no Northern California GSR website at present, you can also find information for and about GSRs here.

Why two different groups?

An Intergroup helps DA members and DA meetings within a certain area. A GSR group helps connect those meetings to the wider DA community. Both Intergroup Representatives and GSRs attend monthly meetings. (In fact, the meetings of both groups are held in the same room at the San Francisco Public Library.) GSRs also attend the annual World Service Conference and serve on conference committees. If possible, intergroups send their own representatives, called ISRs, to the World Service Conference as well.
